I discovered at an early age that curiosity and trying on new ways to get things done are what create success (read: High Payoff Results).

In the middle of 2nd grade, my family moved from Los Angeles to Geneva, Switzerland, when my father got a job there. My classmates and teachers were from 114 countries around the world. Talk about fresh perspectives and varied ways of approaching life!

The ski instructors on the slopes outside Geneva used to swat us on the backs of our legs as we glided down the hills, saying "Flex your knees, flex your knees!" It kept me from ending up face down in moguls, and works off the slopes too!

I got it - The key to momentum is to stay open and responsive to what life throws at us.

Change Happens 

Back in the States for high school, by the time I graduated from college I had lived overseas again, sat at the hospital bedsides of family members facing catastrophic illnesses and injury, been in the hospital myself, and held jobs in everything from mega corporations to entrepreneurial ventures and family-owned businesses.

I certainly stored every new social skill, management technique and bit of 'how to' in my kit bag to use on the job.

But what shaped me the most were those heartbreaking moments of illness and loss.

I learned first-hand that most of us spend far too much time diverted from what matters most in our lives.

I believe the heart of a rich and rewarding life lies in finding what we love doing,
holding the vision for what we want to achieve, and carving away the distractions and (excuse me) crap in order to focus on the High Payoff activities that get us to that life faster and easier.
